Passing rate for Sabah 2012 SPM increases 0.26 per cent

22nd March, 2013TAMPARULI: The passing rate for the 2012 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations in Sabah increased slightly by 0.26 per cent to 94.31 per cent when compared to the previous year.

A total of 33,535 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan sat for the exam and 31,626 obtained their SPM certificate by scoring at least a pass in Bahasa Melayu.
From the total, 199 scored straight As whether A+, A and A- in all their subjects, which is higher than the 187 straight-A scorers in 2011.
“Two candidates achieved all A+ and 197 managed to score a combination of As,” said Jame when announcing the results for the 2012 SPM at SMK Tamparuli here yesterday.
The number of students who passed all subjects also went up to 17,247 or 51.43 per cent compared to 16,848 or 51.40 per cent in 2011.
More candidates obtained at least a C in all subjects numbering at 3,781 compared to 2,568 the previous year.
However the State Average Grade went down by 0.08 per cent in the 2012 SPM results.
There were 98 subjects taken by SPM candidates in Sabah and of these 61 subjects achieved 100 per cent pass.
“There were 16 subjects that showed an increase compared to the year 2011 and 21 subjects that showed a decrease.
